The radar in my mind
Was shut down for awhile
Yesterday, it clicked back on
Forced my face to smile
Perhaps it had hibernated
Through the winter’s long dark days
Then it stretched and shook itself
Upon feeling spring’s warmer rays
I must say I am delighted
As the thing snaps back in place
Its idleness was worrisome
Caused many frowns upon my face
It seems so exciting
Yet somehow quite perverse how a little word or phrase
Can shift us from reverse
Maybe it’s just human nature
Protecting our inner souls
So that we can gain strength
To parade closer to our goals.
