Barbara

Barbara
I did not know her well
Yet in my heart
I hear stories she could tell

I respect this woman
Who always worked hard
Who toed the mark
Who kept up her guard

This woman whose silence
I came to know
Who understood what I said
This lady who smiled at me
Even when silently she knew
I had much to dread

‘Tis so unfair
A phrase so mundane
But is speaks of the hurt
And cries out my pain.
