Only A Few Moments Left Till Christmas

Only a few moments left till
Christmas
Is your shopping done &
wrapped?
Did you start out with good
intentions
That lasted just till your
nerves went snap?

Is it any wonder
This season seems to try us?
With stores & TV assaulting
us
Ads SCREAMING out
to “BUY US!”

I think I’ll just ignore
All these blatant pleas
And stroll down to the
nearest church
There fall down upon my
knees.

I am tired of all the worry
The hurry and the waste
When just a little
kindness
Can be the saving grace.

Names and Titles

Names & Titles Are So Important
Consider this:

The best country song
That’s NEVER been writ
Was conjured by an 8 year old
And would’ve been a hit.

The title alone
would have won her fame
“GET YOUR ASS OUT OF MY HEART”
Was the song’s name.

The same little girl
Also loved words
Used them in ways
That to me were quite absurd

But use them she did
Day in and Day out
Tho’ her sentences left me
Wondering
What they were all about

The one I recall
With most heartfelt glee
Was when she inquired
“How does my
CHANDELIER
look on me?”

(For and about Barbara Dudley Davis)

Did You Ever?

Did you ever get up
Just flat out feelin’ mean?
Felt the world had gone mad
No good folks left on the scene?

Later–did you discover
It was your own fault you nut—
You felt this way because
Your shirt was on
BACK TO FRONT?

OR

Have you ever felt homely?
Have you ever sniffed glue?
Have you ever fallen over
When you forgot to tie your shoe?
